Melda Fahmy’s mother was British and her father an Egyptian engineering professor. Both she and her sister, Nadeeda, were encouraged by their family to dance and given practical help when they, together with her husband (Ali Reda) and her sister’s husband (Mahmoud Reda) formed the Reda Troupe.
